Quick Start

To quickly lookup a park or recreation area you can select directly from the park name listbox where the parks and areas are listed in  alphabetical order  OR you may  first filter your selection  from the category listbox then select  from the park name listbox.
The parks are cartegorized by Federal, state, county, local jurisdictions, open space districts, private etc.

Once you select a park you can get information by clicking on the Click here for more info link

You can get online information on many parks you see,  first click the info button  then click on the color shaded area on the map. This will take you to the information web site similiar to link mention above.

Parks And Recreation Overview

The Parks and Recreation web application will help you locate and get information on the nearly 500 parks and recreation areas spreadout throughout beautiful Marin county. The Map includes:

• Federal, state, county, local parks
• School playgrounds
• Hiking trails, fishing spots
• Open Space District
• Water District Lands
• Golf Courses, Tennis Courts, Swim Clubs

The associated informational  web pages give hours, directions, fees as well as interesting topics.
This map contains a shaded relief map and aerial photos  of the area you are zoomed to, an invaluable aid to hikers and bikers.
You can even measure the distance of your hike on the map by using the measurement function.

1. Click on the measurement icon.    Notice the mesaurement panel appear.
2. Click  the starting point location on the Map and wait for the map to refresh.  A single red dot will appear where you clicked.
3. Continue clicking along the path of your intended travel.  As you click you will see a double red line appear along the points you click  and the panel will show the total distance and the distance of the last segment you clicked.
